Jeffrey Shapiro, M.D., is certified by the American Board of Orthopedics. He specializes in knee and shoulder disorders and sports medicine.
A graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Dr. Shapiro completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. In addition he completed a fellowship in knee surgery and sports medicine at Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Long Beach.
Dr. Shapiro has worked as a team physician for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association, Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League and as an orthopedic consultant to the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League and the United States Women’s Professional Ski Tour. Dr. Shapiro has also served as team physician for Bloomfield Hills Andover High School and Troy Athens High School and Troy High School.
He has written numerous articles and textbook chapters and has made local and national presentations on knee surgery and sports medicine. He also participates in the education of medical students and orthopaedic residents and fellows from various institutions.
Dr. Shapiro is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Medical Association, Michigan Sate Medical Society and the Oakland County Medical Society.
He is on staff at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and serves as Director of Sports Medicine.
